Dr. Vender graduated with Distinction from Stanford University, and received his M.D. degree from the University of Illinois, College of Medicine, participating in the James Scholar Program. He did his residency at Northwestern University, in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery. He served a fellowship in Hand Surgery at the Connecticut Combined Hand Services in Harford, Connecticut. Dr. Vender is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and has been certified as having Added Qualifications in Surgery of the Hand. He is a member of the American Society for Surgery of the Hand, the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, and the Chicago Society for Surgery of the Hand.

Dr. Vender has published several articles in peer reviewed journals, in addition to chapters in books of Hand Surgery, Orthopedic Surgery, and Occupational Medicine.

His practice is limited to surgery of the hand, wrist and elbow.
