Dr. Sagerman graduated from Northwestern University in the Honors Program in Medical Education, and received his M.D. degree from Northwestern University Medical School in Chicago. He served an internship in the Department of Surgery at Emory University Affiliated Hospitals in Atlanta, Georgia, where he also completed his residency in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery. He received his fellowship training in hand and upper extremity surgery in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at the State University of New York Health Science Center in Syracuse, New York. Dr. Sagerman is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and has received a Certificate of Added Qualifications in Surgery of the Hand. He served as an instructor of Clinical Orthopaedic Surgery at Northwestern University Medical School. He is a member of the American Society for Surgery of the Hand, the American Association for Hand Surgery, the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, and the Chicago Society for Surgery of the Hand, the American Medical Association and the Chicago Medical Society.

His practice is limited to surgery of the hand, wrist, elbow and shoulder.
